The Spot After School Tutoring Program

is designed for K-6th grade students, focusing on Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, and Vocabulary. The program offers daily 45-minute sessions from Monday to Friday, running between 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM. This structure ensures consistent academic support and enrichment for young learners, helping them improve their skills in key subject areas. 

The qualifications of tutors in the SPOT After School Tutoring Program typically include:

1. Educational Background: Tutors often have a degree in education or a related field. Some may be certified teachers or have specialized training in elementary education. 

2. Experience: Many tutors have experience working with children in educational settings, such as schools, after-school programs, or tutoring centers. 

3. Subject Expertise: Tutors are knowledgeable in Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, and Vocabulary, ensuring they can effectively support students in these areas. 

4. Training: Tutors undergo specific training related to the program's curriculum and teaching methods to ensure consistency and quality in instruction. (Leading to Change)

5. Background Checks: To ensure the safety of the students, tutors typically undergo background checks. BIB.com completes and certifies our national background checks annually 

Tutors at The SPOT After School Tutoring Program are typically assigned to students based on several factors to ensure the best possible match: 

1. Student Needs: Tutors are matched with students based on the specific academic areas where the student needs the most support, such as Mathematics or Reading Comprehension. 

2. Tutor Expertise: The program considers the tutor's strengths and expertise to align with the student's needs; specifically Mathematics or Reading. 

3. Grade Level: Tutors are assigned based on their experience and comfort level with the student's grade level. 

4. Learning Style: Whenever possible, The SPOT tries to match tutors with students based on compatible teaching and learning styles. 

5. Availability: Scheduling is also a key factor, ensuring that both the tutor and student are available at the same time. (Parent pickup or Transportation home from the program are factors in days and times tutoring takes place.)

The SPOT After School Tutoring Program does offer group tutoring sessions. These sessions are designed to foster collaborative learning and peer interaction, which can be beneficial for students. Group sessions typically involve small groups of students working together on similar academic topics, guided by a tutor. This setup allows students to learn from each other, share ideas, and develop teamwork skills. 

The SPOT After School Tutoring Program provides enrichment activities to complement the academic tutoring and homework support sessions. These activities are designed to provide a well-rounded experience for students and may include: 

1.Arts and Crafts: Encouraging creativity and fine motor skills.

2. Physical Activities: Games and exercises to promote physical health and teamwork. 

3.STEM Projects: Hands-on activities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

4. Readers TheaterGroup reading sessions to foster a love for books and improve literacy skills, vocabulary, and self expression.

5. Educational Games: Fun Interactive games that reinforce academic concepts. 

6. Social Emotional Learning: Group activities to promote students emotional well-being as well as collaborative and communication skills. 

7. Esports: Introduces students a variety of technology and how to use it building 21st century digital skills.

These activities are proven to help students develop a variety of skills and interests beyond the core subjects of Mathematics and Reading Comprehension.
