Quarterly Story   / July 2023

The SPOT kids planted corn during the school year and harvested and ate fresh corn on June 25, 2023 at summer camp.  The kids were amazed to see their seeds turn to plants in the classroom and even more amazed each day at this same corn grew right outside the front door of the SPOT.  The SPOT has utilized gardening as a STEM program since 2014.  The science, (Soil Testing, Water Testing) The technology, (Hydroponics / Greenhouse / Research) engineering (Building raised garden beds) and math (Yield of each plant) all lead to an  innovative approach to teaching our students.

Other plants at the SPOT include herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers.  These are all used in our meal service program.
